Chapter 51: Deus Ex Machina
Chapter 51: Deus Ex Machina
"Running?" Seeing the old man running away, Yun Wuji took a sword from his storage, it was a heavy purple sword. Then he swung his sword casually.
Swoosh!
A brilliant white light erupted, blinding everyone for a split second.
"Wh-what?!"
"Impossible!"
As their vision returned, Feng Qianhui, Gong Yuxian, and the other disciples were met with a sight they would never forget. Shock painted their faces, eyes wide in disbelief, and some stood frozen, mouths agape in stunned silence.
"Is this something a human can go...?" One of the fairies, Murong Qianxue muttered absentmindedly, her expression blank.
Yun Wuji swung his sword upward, and the sword light shot forth like a sharp blade through tofu. It cut through the earth, leaving behind a gaping, endless abyss that seemed to swallow all light. The sword light surged upward, splitting a towering mountain cleanly in half, turning it into was looked like a valley.
As the sword light continued upward, the sky itself appeared torn open, a deep, glowing scar stretching across the heavens, as though the sky had been ripped apart, reaching as far as the eye could see.
'If he hadn't directed his sword to the sky, perhaps most of the Blue Wind Empire would have been split in two...' Gong Yuxian thought with a sigh of relief, patting her chest, her large breasts bouncing slightly from the motion, then her eyes turned to look at Yun Wuji.
Watching him majestic back, Gong Yuxian felt her heart start to beat faster for the second time in her life. It was a sensation she hadn't experienced in years, and it caught her off guard. Her frozen heart began to crack. Behind her, the sect's disciples were also entranced. Their gazes were fixed on him, their hearts pounding in their chests as if awakening from a long slumber. It was as if his presence alone had ignited a spark within them, stirring emotions they had long forgotten.
"What is this? There's a crack in the sky!" People across the empire saw as the sky seemed to be split open, a colossal rift stretching across the heavens as if a giant axe had cleaved the sky in two.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked up at the sky in shock.
"I saw a white light! A white light split the sky!" Some people who happened to be watching the sky saw a blinding flash, and then the sky was torn apart.
"Is this a punishment from the heavens?" Cang Wanhe, the emperor, gazed up at the sky, his voice trembling with awe and fear.
"Euh..?" Ye Guying, who had been fleeing, suddenly stopped. A small wound appeared on his forehead, blood trickling down.
Thud!
Before he could react, his body was split cleanly in two. Both halves fell to the ground...
At the same time in the Sun Moon Divine Hall...
"Heavenly Monarch, you needn't worry. Elder Ye Guying has been away for some time; he should have already tracked down the killer of the young master," the Divine Envoy Heaven's Equal said, pouring tea for the Heavenly Monarch, Ye Meixie, who sat across him.
"Hmm, if this were merely a normal accident, I wouldn't be concerned about their failure to catch the killer. What worries me is the possibility that this might be part of a plot from another sacred ground," Ye Meixie said in a deep voice, picking up his teacup.
"Now that you mention it, there is a strong possibility. Normally, no one would dare to attack a disciple from the Four Great Sacred Grounds, let alone the young master... Could it be part of a scheme by Xuanyuan Wentian?" Divine Envoy Heavens Equal asked in surprise, recalling how Xuanyuan Wentian had deceived them into attacking the Eternal Night Royal Family.
Clang!
"...!!!" Ye Meixie was about to sip his tea when suddenly his profound energy surged uncontrollably, shattering the teacup in his hand.
"My lord, what happened?!" Divine Envoy Heavens Equal exclaimed in surprise.
"Ye Guying... he... he died!" Ye Meixie said, ignoring the tea splashed on his clothes.
"How can this be?! He's at the 7th Level Sovereign Profound Realm!" Divine Envoy Heavens Equal stood up from his seat.
"..." Ye Meixie didn't answer him, he was still immersed in the last vision Ye Guying had seen. The sword strike had instilled a profound sense of fear in him.
"Sigh, my frightening genius scared even this sword to death." Yun Wuji gazed at the shattered blade with a sad expression, as if lamenting that nothing and no one could truly understand his brilliance.
The silver light around him began to fade, along with his dragon transformation. The dragon scales retracted into his skin, the horns vanished from his forehead, and his dragon wings and tail slowly withdrew, merging back into his body.
The same happened with his hair and eyes; they returned to their original dark color. "Although I used this technique hastily and it's still far from perfect, I'm satisfied," Yun Wuji said, feeling his strength fading when he stopped the technique. Even though he hadn't reached the full 30 seconds, he stopped to prevent further loss.
The name of the technique is Deus Ex Machina.
This technique forcefully increases one's profound strength by an entire great realm. After which, the user will enter a weakened state for some time.
Because Yun Wuji's veins aren't strong enough to perform this technique.
(they were a half step away).
He burned his dragon god's blood to enhance his physical strength which in turn temporarily strengthened his profound veins, which allowed him to be able to perform the technique.
Yun Wuji was hesitant before because he was just a half step away from succeeding without the need to burn his blood.
(He would have succeeded in a week at most.)n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Now that he had burned his blood, Yun Wuji wouldn't be able to train on this technique again for at least two to three months, which would delay his progress in it.
He also used Dragon Morph to boost his physical strength, which helped him perform the technique. Normally, when this technique is perfected, he wouldn't need to rely on Dragon Morph or burn Dragon Blood.
*I'm not a fan of info dumps, but it seems some people always misunderstand or miss important details... Or maybe it's on me, I should've been more descriptive and detailed.*
"Shit! I feel weak..." Yun Wuji suddenly felt his head spinning and his body swayed. He used the dragon soul domain extensively, burned his blood, and used a forbidden technique like Deus Ex Machina. Now the aftereffects left him feeling weak, both physically and mentally. "Wuji!" He suddenly heard Chu Yuechan's anxious cry as she ran from the barrier toward him. The barrier blocked anyone from entering but allowed them to exit. "Yuechan..." Yun Wuji slowly turned around and was about to comfort her, but she hugged him before he could say a word.
"Why did you do something so dangerous?! I told you never to take risks!" Chu Yuechan pulled him into her embrace, checking his body with worry. Tears streamed down her face.
"I guess... I overdid it, hahaha. Don't worry, I'm alright," he said, turning his head slightly to rest his face on her chest and chuckling softly.
"Really?! But your profound veins are all destroyed!" Chu Yuechan exclaimed, her worry deepening as she found his veins were all ruptured.
"That's no big deal. I'll be better in a few hours," Yun Wuji said, raising his hand to pat her head. However, his hand felt unusually heavy, and his eyelids began to droop. "...Eh?" "Wuji, don't scare me!" Chu Yuechan clutched his hand and cried once more.
"Hey, don't worry. I'm just... I'm just tired. I... I want to sleep," Yun Wuji mumbled before his eyes closed, losing consciousness.
"Wuji! Don't sleep, you can't sleep! Wake up!" Chu Yuechan cried out as she held him, tears streaming down her face when she saw him closing his eyes.
"Stop crying. Let's first get him to a place where we can check his injuries first!" Gong Yuxian deactivated the barrier and moved to her side. She scolded Yuechan, "Give him to me. I'll take
him to the palace."
She gently pulled Yun Wuji from Chu Yuechan's arms and carried him back to the palace. "Wait!" Chu Yuechan recovered some of her composure and followed her.
The other disciples looked at their palace mistress with envious expressions on their faces. "..." Gong Yuxian ignored her and flew away, glancing at Yun Wuji with a complex expression. her heart was beating fast and she felt her face burning red, this was the second time she'd been so close to a man. His current fragile state was a stark contrast to his earlier domineering
style.
She felt she could crush him with a single blow if she wished.
Of course, that was just her assumption. Yun Wuji had given many life-saving artifacts to his disciples, Chu Yuechan and Cang Yue, so it was only natural for him to carry some on his own body as well. In the event of fatal danger, he would be teleported back to Yun Palace. Far away, Feng Qianhui observed everything with a meaningful look in her eyes.
The name for the technique isn't final yet; I might change it later. Feel free to suggest any
fitting names.
