Chapter 615: Split Realm
Chapter 615: Split Realm
[The Mountain of Giza (-) (Split Realm Dungeon)]
[Level Maximum: 50]
[Entry Limit: 5 (Split)]
[Recommended: Will 5000]
[Description: The people of Earth have a deep and storied history. In its past, much of its language encompassed the secrets of this path and embodied the hope of nations.]
[Fallen and forgotten, the ebbs and flows of time have suppressed this storied heritage. As an Earthling who has rekindled that flame, you share part of this responsibility.]
[Light the fires of war and stoke your suppressed history, rise up as your ancestors once did, and face the oppression of the wider world.]
Sylas' heart skipped a beat.
The highest-ranked Dungeon he had ever seen was FFF+. He had always assumed that that was the limit. But the fact this Dungeon was asking for 5000 Will, something he didn't even have half of, and his <Master Scouting> skill couldn't even see through it...
He began to hesitate.
Taking risks was fine. But this was several orders of magnitude beyond just a risk. It was life and death, where death almost seemed guaranteed.
However...
He looked out into the distance. Was there even a way to retreat right now?
[What is a Split Realm Dungeon?]
[A Split Realm Dungeon is a fragmented Dungeon formed not by the random splicing of the current system, but rather lingering-]
[Question has touched upon a Taboo. Glutton Curse activated. Hunger has increased.]
[Madness Key (Treasure)]
[A key leading to a fortune of Madness. Detects other Madness Disciples and enlightens your path. Contains a small spatial world within. Can answer one question in exchange for <8 Bronze> Genes.]
[Curse Status: Glutton. <32 Bronze> Genes a day to maintain Happiness. Requirements grow by the day. <5 days> remaining until Hunger increases.]
[Curse Status: Cannot be unequipped.]
Sylas' brow trembled. Before, the Madness Key had been at 16 Bronze Genes a day, and just four Bronze Genes per question, but it had suddenly doubled for the first time in a long while. And this time, his Luck didn't warn him.
Just as he had that thought, his Luck's warning came in late, and Sylas' pupils constricted. This place... it could restrict Luck?
The bad feeling welling up in his chest only grew heavier.
[What is a Split Realm Dungeon?]
[A Split Realm Dungeon is a fragmented Dungeon formed not by the random splicing of the current system, but rather lingering attachments formed by a World. In the past, this was how the Legendary Path System operated and how Dungeons used to be formed. However, these Dungeons are much rarer, and as such, didn't give many opportunities for growth.]
[The rules and regulations of Split Realm Dungeons tend to be random, and they often display a distorted retelling of history in cases that they are reflections of the past. Though they can also be the product of resentment from a particularly powerful expert or the cumulative resentment of many who died during a bloody war or battle.]
[Split Realms are unlike normal Dungeons in that they can be cleared many times and often have very specific requirements for a perfect clearance. As such, many groups can enter a Split Realm Dungeon at once.]
Sylas exhaled a breath, and he finally understood what the Entry Limit represented now. It seemed that the Entry Limit for one group was five, but several groups could enter at once.
It seemed he had lucked into the right number of group members, but whether they would actually be useful or not...
That was another matter entirely.
He could only hope that the Will recommendation was for their combined number.
There was no way to go but forward.
Sylas gave everyone a glance.
Alex seemed to be unreadable as usual since he had put that mask on. As for the family, they were a bit haggard, but the time they spent riding behind Lauren's group had given them a slight chance at recovery. At the very least, they weren't on their last legs.
With a nod, Sylas locked eyes with the Dungeon entrance swirling with colors of red and black before taking a step forward.
...
The first thing that hit Sylas was the sound of clashing weapons and roars of battle and pain. However, the scene he actually saw was much different from that.
He sat at the helm of a table. Looking down at himself, he found that he wore a robe-armor sort of function. It seemed to have inspirations from the Roman Empire if the short skirt that rode up his thighs and the satchel across his waist were anything to go by. However, he found that his Madness Key and the Scorned Wraps were still very much there. To his left and right were Alex and Cole, along with Lara and Jake respectively.
In the middle of them all was a large table that held a map and some moving pieces that could almost be perfect for a game of chess. But rather than a normal board, they sat on a two-
dimensional battlefield.
BANG!
The room shook, and dust fell from the ceilings.
Sylas looked up and found that they were likely in a bunker of sorts. But the limestone that
etched the walls reminded him very much of the pyramids.
He quickly stood to his feet just as an attendant came rushing through the door.
"Great King, they've breached the eastern gates."
[Leg 001]
>[Repel breach of Eastern Gate]
A notification popped up for Sylas, but it was murky and not too clear. It was almost like the modern system was trying its best to give him some insight and guidance, but the Legendary Path System was interfering somewhat, or at least making it very hard.
Sylas could see why they gravitated toward the modern system. The old system was much more hard-nosed and difficult to deal with. Its instructions weren't nearly as clear.
Still, Sylas took everything in stride, and the others followed him out, finding themselves standing near the top of a coliseum very soon.
From this vantage point, Sylas could just barely see the situation at the Eastern Gate, and his
eyes couldn't help but narrow.
