Last Shelter Online

Chapter 11

Hiro’s first quest was finally completed after he successfully brought the NPC little girl back to her father, NPC Ron. Liberty burst into tears of joy seeing NPC Ron’s reaction when they brought his daughter out of the Dark Forest. As for Hiro, he was a lot more relaxed as he knew that they weren’t real humans.

“What a tiring day,” Liberty said with a sigh.

This time, Hiro and Liberty walked together back to Beginner Town.

[09:00 PM Server Time]

Hiro’s mind was still distracted by his discoveries about the privileged weapons and armor that players could obtain before the game officially launched.

At that moment, he realized that this was not an ordinary CBT.

This was CBT with privileges.

“Libe.”

“Hmm?”

“When did you start playing this game? How did you become a CBT player?”

Liberty stared at Hiro for a few seconds before blinking with a confused expression. She didn’t understand what Hiro just asked her at all.

‘So beautiful!’

Hiro screamed inwardly seeing Liberty’s adorable confused look. He really wanted to, but restrained himself from petting her like a puppy again.

“…”

“Forget it if you don’t know.”

A dead end. Looks like he would need to ask other players who at least understood how to choose weapons.

Hiro opened his HUD system to add Liberty to his friends list. As he did so, Liberty was taken aback and stopped in her tracks instantly because a notification suddenly appeared in her HUD system.

“NightFall has added you as a friend!?” she surprisedly exclaimed.

Liberty looked at Hiro with a displeased look.

“I thought we were already friends! Hmph.”

Hiro couldn’t wrap his head around why Liberty reacted like that. The girl still accepted Hiro’s request asking her to be friends, but she then continued walking in annoyance.

He absolutely had no idea how her mind worked. It was just too unpredictable.

“All right, let’s end this here! We can play together again tomorrow!” Liberty suddenly jumped in front of Hiro and smiled very brightly. Hiro was still thinking about her previous reaction, so he became increasingly confused when he saw how fast her mood changed.

“All right, it was nice playing with you.”

“Well then, I’m going home now. I want to shower and sleep until tomorrow,” said Liberty while nodding her head.

“Huh? Do you play in an internet cafe?”

“Internet cafe? Where? I don’t get it, I’m just going home.”

This confused Hiro.

“Wait, you’re not talking about your home here, are you?” He looked into the girl’s eyes. That can’t be it, right??

“Of course I’m talking about my home here. Where else would it be? Visit me anytime, Hiro. But not today. I’m really tired now, so I’ll be going first. See you!”

Liberty had run away before Hiro could get an answer to his real question.

He took a deep breath. He got one more new piece of information that might fall into the category of important information; he just found out that there was a housing system in the game.

But why would some players prefer to rest at their in-game homes and not log out and get the real rest instead?

‘She’s really strange.’

“Hm?”

Hiro looked at his party information display. It seemed that Liberty forgot to leave the party since she was rushing to go home. Her name, HP, and AP could still be seen through the party’s display.

“Should I just kick her?.”

He returned to Beginner Town and walked around. Ultimately, he decided to simply ignore Liberty still in his party. Even though he was sure that Liberty didn’t understand the meaning of being kicked out of the party, he still didn’t have the heart to kick her out.

Beginner Town was very quiet at night. From the looks of it, other players should have logged out. Or… did they go home like Liberty did? Hiro could only guess. At this moment, he couldn’t find any players, only NPCs filled the town.

Hiro checked the [CBT Players] page again to see who had obtained legendary weapons or armor. Inside the special page, he found several names of players who had managed to obtain it.

His eyes widened when he saw that 288 privileged items already had player signatures.

He proceeded to read some of them.

[Hellsing Whisper (Pistol) – Liberty (Level 15)]

[Yin Yang Harmony (Mystic Tome) – Noah (Level 15)]

[God of Light (Chakram) – Natalie (Level 14)]

“Ahhh! How did they get them!? I also want one!”

Opening that particular page only made him even more frustrated.

The descriptions of the privileged items were locked by the system. Although players could access the list, they could only see the name, type, and owner of the items.

There was no other information that could help him find a clue, and the more Hiro thought about it, the more annoyed he became.

He decided to vent his frustration by continuing to grind again. His target this time was a brutal-type monster, [Common Ostrich (Level 15)].

The experience gained from fighting an ostrich colony in the same spot, in the western area of Beginner Town, was quite abundant as the monsters kept coming and attacking together.

This posed no problem for Hiro, who already has a high Aspd. He only needed to have energy drinks with him so he would not run out of energy while using his combo.

However, even though he gained a lot of EXP from the ostrich monster, it was still very difficult to level up.

He was sure that was the reason the world level was capped at 20; it seemed the in-game system was only limited to that level for the time being.

But, he had to catch up the cap before the CBT really ended.

And after 4 hours of grinding…

[System Logout]

He logged out of the game and removed the VR machine from his head.

He wanted to try something.

After he put aside his VR machine, Hiro immediately checked his android bracelet and opened Ninecent’s website for the umpteenth time to the description of the sale and purchase transaction for LSO.

After a few minutes of being immersed in the tablet screen, Hiro found two methods of buying and selling transactions that could be done for LSO.

The first transaction method could be done directly in-game while the players are online. Unfortunately, Player-to-player direct trading was still unavailable and was waiting for an update.

However, there was one other way they could sell tradable items in the game. Players must own a Merchant License, which could be obtained by purchasing it through the website for 100,000USD to open a store.

Merchant players had the right to determine the price of goods, taxes, and transaction/service fees.

Hiro, who only wanted to experiment with selling in-game items, automatically ignored the two methods.

And the choice fell on transactions through a system that could be done both offline or online with an auction system.

[Garden Golem Weapon Card 1x]

Hiro put the skill card into the item menu that he wanted to sell on Ninecent’s website.

Sales through the system do not require a Merchant License. There is, however, a 10% sales tax imposed by the system.

Not like he had another choice.

[[Garden Golem Card 1x] is placed for auction.]

[The starting price for bidding will be fixed by the system and cancellations are not allowed. Proceed anyway?]

“Yes.”

[Starting price for [Garden Golem Weapon Card] is 2,000LSC]
