Chapter 1044 Big Changes
Chapter 1044 Big Changes
Rudra thought long and hard about the reward choices, since there were many lucrative options to choose from.
With Max still regenerating, everyone was forced to cool off for a day as internal discussions began on who would choose what.
Different celestials were fixated on different rewards which was shocking to Rudra as he saw no value in things like a mythical sword or spell books, however, the sword saint was apparently ready to bend over backwards for that sword while Jasmine seemed to be obsessed over the spell book. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Everyone was concerned about what choice Rudra and Max would make since the brothers were given priority to make a decision and had all options open to them with the two also getting unknown additional rewards.
If Rudra had no information about the tower and it's workings, he would probably have looked at this reward list in a different light, however, since he already had some inkling about the world beyond, he knew exactly the reward to choose which others were most likely to ignore.
The perfect warrior, annoying as he was, had once revealed to Odin about the tower and its workings while Odin was still a celestial and trying to bring him down.
It was also because Rudra had this information and Odin's help, that he chose his second soulmancer to be a regular human, as he knew something about the tower that was forbidden knowledge in this universe.
The perfect warrior had revealed to Odin that the tower of ascension was an omniscient structure existing from before the beginning of time and was a construct that existed beyond the confines of space
When a new universe was born, one floor guardian was appointed by the tower to the universe, with the condition for the universe to integrate with the tower being that someone indigenously born to that universe must defeat the appointed floor guardian.
This became an increasingly difficult task for progressive universe's to complete, as once a floor guardian of a universe was defeated, all his experiences, memories and knowledge was collected by the tower and improved to create the next floor master.
This meant that while the perfect warrior that the warrior's of this universe fought was fierce, the perfect warrior that the next universe would face would be even more dangerous with the difficulty of someone beating him being even more exaggerated.
As to why the tower made the condition for a universe to integrate with it to be so difficult? Nobody knew, but what everyone did know was the fact that whenever a new universe integrated with the tower, the existing gods became wary as the next batch of gods were always a cut better than the old ones.
According to this universe's perfect warrior, the tower had 101 floors, with floor 101 being the floor of wishes, where anyone who reached it could wish for anything at all!
A life without regrets?
Unlimited power?
Ownership of the tower?
Suffering to an enemy?
Whatever wish one wanted to fulfil, they could do so by reaching floor 101 which is what everyone who was chosen by the tower to enter aimed for.
The power structure within the tower was roughly equal to that of the tier structure of this universe with every ten floors in the tower representing the strength of one tier.
Although it took more than just brute strength to climb the tower, the difficulty to become a tier9 celestial, a.k.a climbing upto floor 90 was roughly the same with those who achieved the feat having the same strength as a celestial.
Since Rudra and all 13 others in the celestial realm were already tier9, they would be welcomed within the tower directly from floor 90, meaning that the stretch that they had to cover to get any wish fulfilled was only 11 floors.
In theory, it seemed simple enough since 90% of the journey that they needed to undertake had already been completed, however, the conditions to challenge the last ten floors were actually insane, with the floor masters guarding them being as strong as the perfect warrior if not more.
" Interesting…. The choices offered in this list are indeed incredible rewards, but most fools here won't even realise their true worth" Rudra thought in his head as he wondered if he could scam someone to give up their reward for something worthless.
*********
( A day later )
Max expected the atmosphere to be joyful and celebratory when he returned to life, however, the atmosphere felt tense and serious instead.
While everyone still smiled and congratulated him, they seemed to be embroiled in a deep thought and seemed wary of Max.
It wasn't until Rudra explained to Max as to what exactly was going on, about the universe integrating with the tower and more that Max realised why the atmosphere was tense as he too took a look at the contribution and reward list, turning extremely serious when the time to make a choice came.
" So let me get this straight? In about a days time, the controlled universe as we know it would cease to exist?" Max questioned Rudra, who rubbed his forehead in frustration.
" Not exactly. The universe will exist, but its history as we know it will be rewritten.
So, there will still be a Dombivli city or planet Radiance, with them still having their native people, however, they won't remember Sigma or the chaos war, they won't remember that there existed a universe where the queen controlled their lives and there was a dark and light faction and will rather believe that they were a part of the tower since time immemorial and while we would still be a part of the universe's history, our background lore would be completely different from the life we have actually lived" Rudra told Max who felt nauseated by the very idea.
" Well brother, while I don't understand what all this means exactly, we will debate about it later, but for now I know what reward to take and you cannot dissuade me from it.
Even if this universe ceases to exist as we know it, I have a few people that I need to bring with me to the other world as they are and with their memories intact-" Max said fuming as Rudra nodded his head and respected his choice.
" Don't waste your choices on your soulmancers, they will come to the new world with their memories intact anyways" Rudra said as Max nodded his head and made his choice to receive the ten tokens from the scroll.
