Chapter 34: 34 : Who's talking behind my back

"Stupid brat, show me some respect first before talking about manners," The ruffian said, as he walked up to Elias, towering over him with his massive frame

"What is your name?"Elias asked

"Huh? Look at this brat. Well if you must know the person who will send you to the healer's ward, I am Igor the conqueror" He replied

"Igor.. what a stupid name"

"Brat, I'll kill you!" Igor barked, charging at Elias with full speed and a loaded fist, the floorboards creaked with each step he took.

"[Bladewalk](Improvised no sword style)"

Elias sidestepped, and used the momentum from Bladewalk in addition to Igor's momentum to send the ruffian flying across the room and crashing into Belford's desk

"Huh?" A puzzled look appeared on Igor's face, 'Did I just get flung? By that brat? No, I must have slipped or something, that's right I slipped' he thought to himself

He rose up and charged at Elias again, this time a little more cautious in his approach, but before he could reach Elias, pieces of the broken desk flew at him at Elias' will, scratching him all over his body, nicking bits of flesh from his body causing the ruffian to retreat.

"You're lucky we are in the Golden Bazaar, else you would have been dead ten times over," He said, giving Igor a condescending look.

"You..you're a mage!"

"Officially I'm not but you could say that"

"Why are you doing this? Is it because of that geezer? Well, it doesn't matter. I've beaten plenty of mages to death. You will just be a nice addition to the tally" He smirked

"Is that so?" Elias smiled back at him

After some minutes, Elias stepped out of Belford's office with a bright smile on his face. Waiting for him and Igor outside the office was the Golden Bazaar's security.

Igor meekly stepped out of the office, looking down at his feet. He had not even a single scratch on his body, in fact he looked better than when he first arrived

"What's happening here? We got a report of some commotion" one of the guards asked

"Nothing Nothing at all, we were just having a friendly chat, there's no commotion here," Elias said with a smile, patting Igor on the back as he spoke, "Right Igor?" He added

"He called the boss by his first name?" One of the ruffians murmured

"R-Right," Igor said meekly, "Let's go boys. I'm done for today"

"Aren't you forgetting something?" Elias asked

Igor sluggishly walked to Belford, "I'm sorry for my actions earlier. From now on, I will learn to respect my elders" He said, leaving Belford stupefied before walking away. The ruffians murmured amongst themselves and followed closely behind Igor as he left the Golden Bazaar.

"I-I guess it was a false alarm," the guard said, turned around and walked away

"Charge the cost of the damages to my account," Elias said as he too walked away

Meanwhile, Belford stood there shocked at what just happened, by the time he came to his senses, Elias had already left. He went back to his office, and as he opened the door, his jaw dropped. There was broken furniture, broken floorboards, scratches on the wall, and even the walls had cracks and dents.

"Ahh, I've gotten myself quite the customer" He muttered.

Elias whistled a tune as he left the main doors of the Golden Bazaar, as he walked away, a familiar pair of deep brown eyes watched him from the rooftop of the Golden Bazaar. It was Lady Isolde, her unmistakable feather earring dangled in the wind along with her silky hair.

"That boy, he is going to be a big problem for us if the church or even the king gets him before us. He defeated Igor and made him apologize, no wonder he was bold enough to propose such a challenge to the king. Just what sort of strength is he hiding?

Look at him carefully, he is the one you're going to fight, Elias Ashdown the child of light" Lady Isolde spoke to a cloaked figure.

"Fear not my lady for he is just a boy, and even if he is the child of light, he has not gotten his blessings yet.

Not to add, Igor's strength is comparable to an apprentice-level mage, need I remind you my Lady how far that is from my strength? I will bring victory to Ravencrest," The cloaked figure assured

"Good. Elias Ashdown, you will be mine" She declared with a mischievous grin on her face.

Elias scratched his ear with his pinky finger, "Is someone talking about me? Why is my ear itchy?" He muttered to himself

"Anyways, about this task...Where do I begin? If I need information on something of this nature, there's no better place to start than the fifth district. But first thing first, I need to get some honey-dipped lamb dough" Elias said as he walked in the direction of the fifth district, with his arm resting on the back of his head carefreely.

********

Elias arrived at the town square in district five, and the atmosphere was already different from district one and five.

The town square bustled with life, a lively hub nestled at the heart of a quaint, medieval village. Cobblestone streets radiated from a central fountain, which bubbled as townsfolk went about their daily routines. The square was encircled by charming timber-framed houses, their steeply pitched roofs adorned with terracotta tiles and chimneys emitting wisps of smoke.

Dominating the square was a majestic temple of the church of Eternal Light, its Gothic spire pierced the sky. Banners bearing Eldoria's crest fluttered in the breeze, adding splashes of color to the scene.

Market stalls, laden with fresh produce and handmade goods, created a vibrant tapestry of sights and smells.

Merchants and traders called out their wares, their voices a melodic cacophony against the backdrop of clanging blacksmiths and the bleating of livestock.

The air was rich with the scent of freshly baked bread, mingling with the earthy aroma of herbs

Children darted between the stalls, laughing as they played, while townsfolk haggled animatedly over bolts of cloth, baskets of produce, and handcrafted trinkets. In one corner, a juggler entertains a gathered crowd, his practiced movements eliciting gasps of delight.

The town crier, standing atop a wooden platform, delivers the latest news and proclamations, his voice rising above the noise of the noise.
