Chapter 70: The Aftermath Of An Awkward Complication
"Narcissus, are you okay!?" Verina barged into the cabin with a musket and flying wheels a-blazing. "That bitch tied me to a faraway tree with some arcane bullshit and it took me an hour to dispel-"
Verina stopped talking as she saw me sitting on a chair with an unkind face, while Kuzunoha was sitting on her knees on the floor with a nervous smile of contemplation.
She noticed that there was quite the amount of comprehensible strange liquid all around the cabin, with the majority of them could still be traced from Kuzunoha's body behind her gothic apparel.
She also noticed that one eccentric body part in my body that shouldn't exist there in the first place.
Her mind succumbed to a deep thought that she mustered her best to process.
After a solid 20 seconds of silence, she finally came to a conclusion.
"She hexes you when I'm still unconscious," Verina voiced with her usual deadpan.
"You're right on the mark."
"And I assume that somehow the hex failed."
And she was right on the mark, again. Find your path on m_vl_em_p_yr
"To ensure that I won't rip her face for the second time, she thought that it would be best to convert all of that relentless rage and hatred into an applicable lust that can be physically sated." I sighed. My mind was still clouded with hatred but not to a certain extent where it could affect my logical judgment.
"So she thinks that losing her virginity while acting tough would fare her better than to suffer a direct physical abuse."
"Wait, you're a virgin?"
Kuzunoha widened her eyes as she maintained her composure. It seemed like she felt very insulted to be associated with that idea. "You think that I would be barbaric enough to think of indulging in such a carnal act!?
"As expected of a subhuman race consisted of a room heater to possess a room temperature intellectual quotient. Such shallow thinking. Deplorable, even!"
Kuzunoha felt so insulted that her speech pattern became worse than before.
"And why did you give Narcissus a sword if you stray so much from that idea?" Verina sighed, feeling more confused than annoyed from the cheap insult that Kuzunoha threw around from time to time.
"Heh, you have no idea what kind of danger that I saw back then that forces me to choose this option." Kuzunoha put on a prideful smug, as if she held a superiority for holding this one information from one kilnalan.
"Uhuh, right, I totally believe you." Verina mockingly nodded. Her opinion of the animaphage seemed to change drastically after this incident.
Still, I would find it hard to believe that Kuzunoha's last bastion of option was to do 'that'.
Was it because of the restriction of the contract?
I remembered that there were a lot of clauses that prevented her from doing whatever she wanted.
For one, she was not allowed to escape the responsibility of any action that she did to me.
Combined with the fact that she couldn't unreasonably harm me without my permission, she might be in a rather tight situation where she had no choice but to do this kind of stunt.
Also, I didn't realize it when I took her virginity because I barely cared about her comfort back then—something that Kuzunoha confirmed after things started to settle down between us.
Firstly, I was amazed by the fact that she was still a virgin after living for god-knows-how-much.
I was even amazed at knowing that the concept of virginity exists for an animaphage.
Secondly, I was also amazed by the fact that Verina easily scoffed this incident to a mere 'an animaphage's understandable shenanigan'. I expected a much more betrayed and outrageous reaction instead of a calmly composed one.
Then again, Verina also didn't react much when I was using my hands to relieve Lupina's libido so that she could fight properly in the night.
Because of this, I learned greatly that Verina cared more about our interactions with one another than that of someone else's deed with me. Maybe it was their unique way of biological thinking, and conclusion making.
It could also be the fact that Verina possessed zero emergency reaction to jealousy.
Regardless of the reason, my opinion of Verina increased greatly because of this.
"Now that it comes to this, I'm curious about something." Loosening my cold expression to the fist that was pressing my cheek, leaned to the table—I darted an unkind gaze to the animaphage. "How couldn't you incapable of restoring the body of a decapitated head, but you can give me a penis for some forsaken sake."
"There is a clear difference in terms of subject and the amount of possible alteration and influence." Kuzunoha's gaze at me was still nervous as ever, probably reminiscing the traumatizing time that she had with me a couple of moments ago. "For one, it is a person with a strong enough psionic influence that can severely backfire my hex. A catalytic vessel of limitless possibility.
A complete set of entities, ready to be molded by my arcane prowess.
"On the other hand, we have a magically preserved head who has zero psionic influence and sensitivity. A conscious one at that.
"I think it is enough of a difference between the two separate individuals in terms of how much I could use my physicality altering power."
That was a reasonable explanation. Not to mention, my Psychic Sensitivity, according to my Info section of detail screen, was beyond 1000%.
It might also be the reason why Valtherion's Blood had such a significant effect on increasing my psionic prowess despite barely knowing how to use and control it.
"Can you use your arcane power to heal?" I curiously asked.
"The energy used to perform my spell lies within what already existed in this world." Kuzunoha curled her lips into an unsure smirk. "It is different from the lifeline used for ohrtending. As such, it has its own set of laws. Different from your current understanding.
"To summarize the related laws used in the creation of your new 'toy'—my extension of spells can only grant what you potentially can become, not something that is lost and altered outside of my intervention.
"Of course, this also depends on the subject. For one, I can't just remove the hatred you have for me after that failed 'experiment'."
True, she wouldn't resort to such a debauched tactic otherwise.
