Yao Ran had anticipated that Xu Qipeng might ask for a large amount of supply. However, she hadn't expected that over forty thousand soldiers could survive the early phase of the natural disasters.

In her previous life, only eight thousand soldiers had remained in Juncheng City.

When the mutation began, they were almost completely wiped out by the mutant. If it hadn't been for the emergence of the ability users, the Juncheng Military Base would have disappeared from history before it was even founded.

But in this life, with so many surviving soldiers, they might stand a chance against the first wave of mutations in the near future as long as she could provide enough medicine and supplies to save all of them.

After thinking about that, Yao Ran replied, "I can supply medicine for all of them, including those in the Second Army."

Xu Qipeng was surprised, and his initial skepticism faded.

He stared at her in silence for a moment, then smiled and said, "Xiao Ran, there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world. Since you are offering enough medicine for the army, tell me-what do you want in return?"

Yao Ran looked at him and replied, "Uncle Xu, I want a residence permit for me and my friends when you build the military base."

Seeing Xu Qipeng's surprised face, Yao Ran added, "I have heard that the government had lost most of its leaders, causing it to fall into chaos."

"Because of this, Juncheng City has been cut off from the central government and needs to fend for itself. I also heard that the military is planning to build a base now that the flood has receded."

She smiled and asked, "Uncle Xu, what do you think about giving me a few resident permits as payment for the medicine and the disinfectant?"

Xu Qipeng stared at her and, after a moment of silence, sighed and said, "You really are the daughter of the Yao family. You really know what to invest. Fine. I will give you the resident permits, and you can choose the location for the houses once we begin constructing the base."

Seeing the victory in Yao Ran's eyes, Xu Qipeng added, "Don't be happy too early. I promise to give you residence permits, but you will still need to build your own house. We don't have enough materials to build houses after finishing the essential buildings later."

Yao Ran, who had prepared construction materials beforehand, simply nodded and said, "I understand. So, when do you want to get the medicine?"

"As soon as possible." Xu Qipeng answered.

Yao Ran nodded, "Then please lend us a military truck. We will deliver the medicine to you." Xu Qipeng was curious about where she had hidden the supplies, but he knew it concerned Yao Ran's survival at the end of the world, so he refrained from asking questions.

He walked out of the tent and called to a soldier, "Show them to the parking lot and give them a truck."

The soldier saluted him, "Yes, Commander."

After giving the order, Xu Qipeng smiled at Yao Ran and said, "Be careful out there, Xiao Ran."

Yao Ran smiled, "See you later, Uncle Xu."

Long Yu saluted Xu Qipeng, then followed Yao Ran and the soldier. Watching them walk away, Xu Qipeng rubbed his chin, deep in thought.

Following the soldier, Yao Ran and Long Yu arrived at the parking lot. The soldier led them to the area where the military trucks were parked and said, "Captain Long, Miss, you two can choose a truck."

Yao Ran looked around, pointed at the largest truck, and said, "I want this one."

The soldier checked the plate number and nodded, "Please wait here for a moment while I get the key."

After the soldier walked away, Long Yu said, "Including the Second Army, there are more than a hundred thousand soldiers. Ran Ran, you have given so much to Commander Xu. Do you still have any medicine left for yourself?"

Yao Ran smiled at him and answered, "I bought a lot of medicinal herbs before, and I have also been growing them in my space. After giving the medicine to Uncle Xu, I still have a lot of medicine inside my space. You don't need to worry."

Listening to her answer, Long Yu rubbed her head and smiled, "It's good to know that you have saved some for yourself."

Hearing him say the same words as Jia Xiang, Yao Ran smiled, feeling warmth in her heart. It had been so long since she'd had people to care about her well-being. It felt really nice.

After a few minutes, the soldier returned with the truck key, handed it to Long Yu, and asked, "Captain Long, do you need a driver?"

Long Yu shook his head, "No need. I can drive it."

The soldier gave him a document and said, "Alright. This is the authorization for using the truck. I trust you know what to do from here."

"Yes. Thank you for your help." Long Yu said as he took the document.

The soldier saluted and said, "Then I will return to my post."

After the soldier left, Long Yu unlocked the truck's door and looked at Yao Ran. "Can you get in by yourself?"

Yao Ran looked at the huge truck and said, "Of course."

Seeing her climb the steps and open the passenger door smoothly, Long Yu went to the driver's side and got in. He helped Yao Ran put on her seat belt before turning the key and driving out of the parking lot.

Stopping behind the iron gate, Long Yu handed the document to the soldiers at the security post. After they checked it, they returned it to him and opened the iron gate.

Driving out from the military camp, Long Yu asked, "Where is our destination?"

"Just find a secluded place so I can take out the medicine and the disinfectant." Yao Ran replied.

"Alright." Long Yu nodded and drove to the business district of Juncheng City.
