Chapter 87 Magic Waves, Windfury Blaster, Roaring Metal Cannon
87 Magic Waves, Windfury Blaster, Roaring Metal Cannon
After leading them to the north for a while, Erix told them to fly above the clouds and move towards the Northwest.
Seeing the ground from this height was usually impossible, but Erix had <Zoom> talent and <Aura Gear> skill.
He zoomed in while observing and identifying each aura.
'Now, if I can just inspect while zooming, it would be perfect,' Erix dryly thought despite knowing that this wish wouldn't get fulfilled.
After Erix arrived above the spot, he stopped. "Alright, we are at the location."
"You go attack the blondy and leave the ritual pool to me, "Erix said before he paused for a bit and adopted a serious expression, "You do know that you have to kill him quickly before he calls Railun, right?"
'Although I will drop my attack before that happens.'
"We know that. It will be hard to take on both Railun and that blond man, even for us three."
"Cool. Then go and have a blast."
The trio nodded before the one wearing the robe raised his staff as the crystal on top of it briefly shined.
Four wisps left the crystal a second later before entering Erix and the other three.
[You have gained a buff, Blood Boost.]
Erix inspected the new buff in detail.
[Blood Boost: Increase your strength and healing recovery by 25% for five minutes or until your vitality falls below 50%. This buff's effect is halved on those above level 100.]
"Thanks," Erix nodded.
The trio flew down with their weapons gleaming coldly and magic whirling powerfully, ready to draw someone's blood.
On the other hand, Erix wasted no time and accessed his Origin Region to take out his new Death Bone that he created from a level 68 mutated monster called Snap Shot Ant.
That monster Ant was quite frankly the most brutal monster that Erix and the gang faced because its unique snap-shot mandibles and mouth were quick and deadly. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
It was dangerous not just in melee range but also in long range. Whenever the Ant snapped its mandibles at almost supersonic speed, it would shoot a flamy green round projectile with incredible power and speed.
That nightmarish Ant had actually sniped other people to death in the forest before it was trapped by Erix's metal cuffs and a several low damage but snaring skills by Erix's and Leon's group. 'Good thing that my Death Bones are part of my class and didn't get deleted,' Erix smiled as he saw his new Death Bone manifesting before him.
A fifteen-centimeter wide black barrel with pulsing wind-green and blood-red curvy patterns. It was half a meter long before the rest of its body manifested, revealing a trigger and a holder at its back.
[ Death Bone: Windfury Blaster ]
_Type: Projectile Death Bone.
_Cost: 100-800 undead energy per shot.
_Attack: 650 + 200% of Undead energy consumed + 150% of magic power. _Effect(s):
—> Shock Blaster: The projectile travels at a supersonic speed, breaking the sound barrier and dealing corresponding extra damage borne from speed along with a powerful wind shockwave upon the projectile's impact.
—> Death Smear: All defenses and barriers gradually decay via corrosion upon being impacted by the projectile shot. The decay speed depends on the target's durability/robustness and the user's consumed undead energy.
Erix pointed his cannon at the bloody pond between the two siblings on the platform.
Afterward, he used his newly created skill.
Roaring Metal Cannon
_Rank: Tier-2
_Grade: Common/created.
_Cost: 500 mana.
_Effect: A spiky ball of finely condensed and compressed metal. Powerful and study, the user can control this ball to wreak havoc. If propelled with enough speed to gether kinetic energy, it can deal devastating physical damage while Erix took a deep breath as his eyes faintly glowed with a grey aura, and his mana rapidly consumed as a spherical frame of magic with seven simple layers of nodes formed before it turned into a condensed metal orb of metallic dark gray color, with thick spikes all around on it in perfect allotment of space between each of them.
'Shit, I consumed the usual amount,' Erix cursed. He consumed 500 mana but only wanted to use 400 for a slightly weaker metal ball to save some mana. 'I hope I won't have to scurry away immediately.'
The formation of this skill had seven layers because Erix passed his mana through those seven layers of nodes to refine and condense the iron elements into a powerful metal ball.
When designing this skill, Erix had reached his limit of creating nodes and layers in the frame.
But thanks to his experiments in Limitless Plane, he also learned what determined his limit and acquired new knowledge.
He discovered an unseen and hard-to-sense force in his Origin Region that he consumed to design a magic skill's formation when he couldn't create more nodes in his magic frame.
It was called Magic Waves. The notification gave him the name of this force after he discovered it and focused on it.
The numerical measurement of magic waves was a simple multiplication of Mana and Magic. But the magic waves were a unique type of force because they worked collectively, like one having a fixed budget.
If you used half of the budget to build one house and the other half to build a second house, both houses would be smaller. However, if you used all budget in one house, it would be bigger.
But whether this house was excellent or poor depended on the craftsmanship, painting, foundation, design, and such.
->Budget = Magic Waves = frame, layers, and nodes/ magic formation.
->Craftmentship, foundation, etc. = one's ability to weave the frame, layers, and nodes to bring out the full potential of their mana, magic control, affinities, and other knowledge to create a compelling skill of their design and vision.
House = skill.
So, Erix's Roaring Metal Cannon skill took all of his magic waves in its creation, although he only used a few simple principles of magic that he knew in the magic formation.
Condense, compress, and shape.
The skill was basically shaping a huge amount of metal into a sphere, compressing it, and condensing its structure to make it tough, spiky, and strong. This shaping, condensing, and compression depended on Erix's magic control.
'Show me your power in its glory,' Erix thought as a slight tremble of excitement coursed through his body.
After all, the giant spiky metal cannonball was right before the barrel entrance of Windfury Blaster that could unleash wind blasts in supersonic speed, and Erix wanted to shoot his Roaring Metal Cannon with it!
However, just as he intended to press the trigger, a notification rang in his ears.
[ Despairer, it is time for you to choose. ]
[ Would you continue your attack knowing that you will kill two innocent young ones who were used as sacrifice and medium by their corrupted father? ]
[ or ]
"Fuck the second choice. I don't have time to save nobodies while risking my life," Erix coldly snorted but didn't pull the trigger and waited. 'Unless that second choice gives me more benefits.'
[ Would you save the two young ones first and then destroy the Abyss Ritual Pool? ]
"Will I get any additional rewards if I choose the second option?"
"No response? Well..."
Erix cracked a grin. 'A nobody's life alive is not useful if I am not alive to use or benefit from it.'
'Wait, the 10,000 gold coin mission reward... those siblings might give me if I save them.'
But a second later, Erix shook his head. 'I have to earn a lot more than that, so it's better I finish this task, get its reward, and some quick benefits here before moving on.'
At that, Erix pulled the trigger of Windfury Blaster.
And right after he pulled the trigger, Erix got another dumbfounding notification that caused drops of sweat to form on his face.
