Chapter 34: Chapter 34
Chapter 34:
[Location: Near Indiana] [3rd POV]
"Because he's just a kid" Alaric replied to Talia's question. Hearing this, Taila rolled her eyes and muttered "A creepy and annoying kid" Hope hearing this giggled softly, before leaning against Talia's shoulder with a sigh.
[Later]
Some more time had passed, and they had officially made it into Indiana. Talia noticing this, groaned "Finally, this trip is taking forever. Why can't I just teleport him back here, or us to him?" Talia asked, wanting to know.
Alaric hearing this, shook his head "We don't know whether or not he's in danger, what situation he's in, and I'd rather not risk teleoporting ourselves into a dangerous situation" Alaric replied, causing Talia to sigh and lean back into her seat.
After driving pass the welcome to Indiana sign, Alaric sing songed "Indiana. Crossroads of America" Alaric sing songed, before asking "What's the capital?"
Hope, who was leaned up against Talia, rolled her eyes at the question "We learned that in, like, eighth grade"
"Oh, good, then you should know it" Alaric replied.
"I didn't say I absorbed the information" Hope said, causing Talia to chuckle softly at her expression.
"Yeah, well, you're not saying much of anything. Look, if you can't handle grade school geography...you're gonna flunk all your exams" Alaric replied.
"Are Lizzie and Josie studying? You should probably focus on them" Hope replied with an eye roll.
"Yeah, well, they're still in Europe with Caroline, thank God" Alaric replied. Talia blinked at this, completely forgetting about that little nugget of information. She was so wrapped up in the past few days, and her relationship with Hope, that she sort of just forgot that the twins weren't even at the school.
"Religion has no place in the classroom, Dr. Saltzman. The supreme court made sure of that with it's ruling Engel v Vitale. And Indianapolis is the capital of Indiana. I'm getting an A in geography. Chill" Hope said sarcastically. Talia smiled at the little sarcastic banter Hope was having, before noticing that Alaric had turned left.
"Looks like he's on the move" Alaric said, looking down at the bracelet thingy. "Indiana is surrounded by what four states?"
"I thought we just established that I am dominating geography" Hope said, getting annoyed with the man.
"Fine, then let's move on to science" Alaric replied, causing Talia to groan and Hopet to roll her eyes.
[Much much later]
More time had passed, and the trio were finally at their destination. Which was Lawrence, Kansas. During these hours, Hope ended up taking a nap on Talia's shoulder, while the girl in question listened to music on her phone in silence. In total, the car drive was 18 and a half hours. More than enough road time for one day.
Pulling the car to a stop, Alaric finished his speal that both of them were completely ignoring "And that is how Osmosis works" Alaric said, causing Talia to sigh "Finally, I was going insane with all the science talk"
"This is the place" Alaric said, causing Talia to snort "No it isn't"Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Uh, yeah it is. This is where the tracker led us to" Alaric replied. Talia rolled her eyes at the man "If the person that took Landon is smart enough, then they probably took the compass off of him. I'm fairly certain that it's in their mailbox on their door. I can only sense two people inside, both too old for it to be Landon"
Alaric hearing this sighed "Alright, stay here" He said, before getting out of the jeep and walking up to the home. "I really hope this is over with soon, this is sooo boring" Talia groaned out, causing Hope to crack a smile, before they noticed Alaric walking back with a frown, and the compass in hand.
"Looks like you were right" Alaric said, getting back into the jeep. Hearing this, Hope rolled her eyes "Hand me the map and compass" Hope said, before dropping some of her blood onto the map, and casting a locator spell using the compass.
After seeing this, Alaric started the car and drove to their next location.
Pulling up, Talia groaned as she noticed the cleaning people. Getting out of the jeep, she walked next to Hope, as a man in a cleaning uniform walked up to them, who she recognized as Clarke.
"Can I help you?" Clarke asked, causing Alaric to reply "Yeah, I hope so. Uh...Say, what's going on here?" Alaric asked, acting as if he was confused.
"Gas leak. Don't worry, though, we have it under control." Clarke replied, causing Talia to inwardly snort at the horrible coverup. "You wouldn't happen to know who lives here, would you? We tried knocking, but no one's home" Clarke asked, as he glanced back at the home.
"We're looking for the highway" Alaric said uprupty. Talia inwardly deadpanned at how obvious he was making this.
"See, we're lost, and we...well, we saw you guys, and we thought we'd ask for directions" Alaric said, making up a rather unconvicincing lie on the spot.
"Yeah, at the end of the road, you make a right. You can't miss it" Clarke replied, suspicious of Alaric.
"Cool. Thanks. All right, let's go Jessica, Lilith" Alaric said, making up fake names for them on the spot.
Getting back into the car, Talia and Hope instantly said "Lilith, really?""Jessica, really?" The two looked at one another as they said it at the same time.
"I've been part of enough cover-ups to smell one a mile away" Alaric said. Causing Hope to ask "You think they're after mophead?"
Ignoring the nickname she had given him, Alaric replied "Well, all I know is they wouldn't have asked about him if they had him, so...we gotta find him before they do"
[One eternity later]
Even more time had passed, and it was now dark out. Talia ended up tracking the teen down with a spell, but they kept moving, causing it to be some sort of race to get to them. Eventually, they finally stopped. Alaric pulled into the motel that Landon was hiding at, while Talia sighed, relieved that they finally are about to get the little bastard.
Walking up to where the two should be, Talia was about to speak when Alaric began to tinker with the lock, before slowly opening it. Talia and Hope looked at one another, both questioning what type of idiot he was. Before they stopped, when they noticed Alaric had his hands up.
Flicking her wrist, the gun swished out of the woman's hand, and into her own.
"I can already tell this is going to be troublesome"

That's the end of this chapter. Next chapter will end this episode, which has been an absolute chore to write. Next episode will have a lot more non canon stuff happening. Talia will begin to go back into the dungeon like crazy, soon, and I plan on her maxing out her classes within
10 chapters or so. Next main class will be TVD Witch, while the subclass will be another
patreon poll.
Next chapter will be longer, around 2k words,
Anyways, have a good day! Point out any mistakes! See you tomorrow!
